How AI uses your notes

Done on your iPhone

With AI features on or off. Nothing is sent.

Connections between notes. Read from what the notes say each time; nothing about them is stored.
Look-ups in Ask Zimoma. Open tasks, what was written when, everything about a topic, ideas and decisions already filed.
Sorting without AI. Voice notes and brain dumps, when AI features are off, you’re offline, or this month’s AI actions are used.

Sent for AI processing

Only when Use AI features is on, and only when you tap.

Text you pick for writing help. Improve, and summaries of a note.
Voice notes and brain dumps you have sorted. The words, not the recording.
Pages you have read. The photo of each page you tap Read it on. Nothing can be removed from a picture first, so only have pages read that you’re happy to send.
Notes in your AI index. For Ask Zimoma and smart search. The index is held by Zimoma and deleted when Search notes with AI is turned off.

Never sent

Recordings. A voice note’s audio stays on your devices; only its words are sorted.
Scans you don’t have read. A scan is a picture in your note until you tap Read it.
Passwords and other secrets. Found in the text and removed before anything is sent.
Anything at all while Use AI features is off.

One switch

Settings › AI features › Use AI features. Turn it off any time. Settings › Privacy › AI features opens the same switch; there is no second one.

Which service, and for how long

AI requests are processed by OpenAI. We ask OpenAI not to store them. OpenAI may keep requests for a limited time to monitor for abuse, and says it does not use them to train its models.
